A Local's Guide to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
Spring is just around the corner, which means one thing for the Pacific Northwest—tulip season! And if you’ve never been to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon, Washington, then 2025 is your year to experience the magic firsthand.
Every April, our little corner of the world transforms into a sea of stunning tulips in every color imaginable. Fields upon fields of flowers create a breathtaking display, and the entire Skagit Valley bursts into celebration with events, markets, and local festivities. Whether you’re a longtime local, a weekend visitor, or someone thinking about calling this place home (we don’t blame you!), the Tulip Festival is an experience you do not want to miss.
As your local real estate team, we’re here to give you the inside scoop—not just on where to see the best blooms, but also on what makes Mount Vernon such an incredible place to live.
What is the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival?
The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is an annual event that runs from April 1 to April 30, attracting over a million visitors from all over the world. What started as a small, three-day event in the 1980s has blossomed (pun totally intended) into a month-long celebration of spring!
Unlike other festivals with a single location, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is more of a self-guided tour. You’ll find incredible tulip fields, charming farms, and plenty of fun activities spread throughout Mount Vernon, La Conner, and the surrounding areas.
Where to See the Best Tulips
The tulips steal the show, and there are two major places you have to visit during the festival:
1. RoozenGaarde
This place is a Skagit Valley staple! Roozengaarde has been growing tulips for over 70 years, and they put on a seriously impressive display. Think rows and rows of perfectly planted tulips, with picturesque windmills and photo ops galore.
2. Tulip Town
Tulip Town is another must-see! With gorgeous fields, an indoor tulip exhibit, trolley rides through the flowers, and local artists painting on-site, this spot has something for everyone.
Other beautiful gardens include, Garden Rosalyn, Tulip Valley Farms, and Skagit Acres.
Pro tip: Want to avoid the crowds? Visit early in the morning on a weekday for a quieter, more peaceful experience.

More Festival Fun – Events & Activities!
The Tulip Festival isn’t just about flowers—there’s so much happening throughout April! Here’s a taste of what you can expect:
Street Fairs & Markets – Mount Vernon and La Conner host street fairs featuring local artisans, food vendors, live music, and more. Perfect for picking up unique gifts and delicious treats!
Tulip Parade – A lively community parade full of colorful floats, marching bands, and festive energy.
Tulip Run – A scenic 5K/10K race through the blooming countryside (don’t worry, walking is welcome too!).
