Father’s Day is right around the corner, and if you're lucky enough to call Bellingham, WA home, you’ve already got a head start on planning the perfect day for Dad. Whether he’s into golf, beer, burgers, bikes, or just relaxing on a beach, there are so many amazing ways to celebrate Father’s Day right here in our own backyard.

As your go-to Bellingham real estate team, we’re not just experts on the housing market, we’re also locals who live, work, and play here. So we’ve rounded up some of our favorite spots, experiences, and bites to help you treat Dad to an unforgettable Father’s Day in Bellingham, WA.

Let’s dive in!

Let Dad Hit the Links

If your dad is the kind of guy who thinks “relaxing” means chasing a golf ball through lush fairways with a cold drink in hand, we’ve got two top-notch courses that are absolute hole-in-ones.

Sudden Valley Golf Course

Tucked between the forest and the lake, Sudden Valley Golf Course is a total gem. With front-nine holes that roll right along Lake Whatcom and back-nine fairways winding through the trees, this course is equal parts beauty and challenge.

Pro tip: book a morning tee time so you can beat the crowds and soak up the quiet. After your round, grab lunch at the clubhouse patio or El Agave, both are great spots for a bite with views that just don’t quit.

Avalon Golf Links

Just a quick drive down I-5, Avalon Golf Links in Burlington is another fantastic option. With 27 holes, scenic views, and a laid-back vibe, it’s perfect for dads who love the game but hate the fuss. You’ll get those wide-open fairways, dramatic landscapes, and, if you’re lucky, a few brag-worthy drives to talk about all weekend.

Adventure, Anyone?

For dads who prefer two wheels over a 9-iron, we’ve got trails, views, and fresh mountain air for days.

Galbraith Mountain

Bellingham’s pride and joy when it comes to mountain biking. With over 65 miles of well-maintained trails, Galbraith offers everything from beginner cruisers to expert-only switchbacks. Whether Dad’s a weekend warrior or just wants to cruise through the trees, this is the place to roll.

Lake Padden Park

Looking for something a little more chill? Head to Lake Padden. You can walk, jog, or just hang out by the water. It’s a great spot for fishing, paddleboarding, or spreading out a picnic blanket.

Marine Park

Brake out the kyak and do some grilling! This spot has some of the best lounging on the beach and enjoying views for miles.

Dad-Approved Dining

Let’s be honest: one of the best ways to celebrate Dad is with food. and Bellingham has no shortage of excellent options.

Waterfront Favorites

Anthony’s at Squalicum Harbor – You can’t beat a plate of fresh seafood with a view of the marina. Dungeness crab, halibut, wild salmon—this place is classic Bellingham.

Fairhaven Eateries

  • Keenan’s at the Pier – Brunch with a view? Yes please. Keenan’s serves up elevated Pacific Northwest cuisine with a cozy, classy vibe. Great for spoiling Dad a little.
  • The Black Cat – Hearty comfort food, craft beers, and one of the best spots to sit and people-watch in Fairhaven.

Downtown Hotspots

  • Roe – Trendy, local, and full of flavor. Small plates, fresh ingredients, and a cool vibe make this a great pick if Dad’s into a more modern food scene.
  • Redlight Kitchen & Bar – This is where bold Asian-fusion meets funky cocktails. Great for dads who love a little spice and aren’t afraid to try something new.
  • Boundary Bay Brewery – A Bellingham classic. House-brewed beers, hearty pub fare, and a beer garden with live music if you're lucky. You can’t go wrong here.

Sweet Treats

A must for celebrating!

Mallard Ice Cream – Unique, homemade flavors like Cardamom, Cinnamon, or Rose (plus the classics) make this a must-stop on your Father’s Day tour. Don’t be surprised if Dad gets seconds.

Bonus Fun: Live Music & Local Events

If Dad’s into live music or theater, check the lineup at Mount Baker Theatre! From stand-up comedy to tribute bands, it’s always worth seeing what’s on stage. Or, head to Downtown Sounds, Boundary Bay beer garden events, or Kulshan Brewing’s Backyard for live music and food trucks throughout the weekend.

Final Cheers to Dad

No matter how you decide to celebrate, one thing’s for sure: Bellingham makes it easy to create unforgettable Father’s Day memories. From tee time to dinner time, trails to ice cream cones, this city is packed with experiences that dads (and their families) will love.

So here’s to the dads who fix things, grill things, build things, and love us through it all. And here’s to the place we call home—Bellingham, WA—where it’s always a good day to celebrate the people we love.
